The Blessing of the Peacemakers is always on the last Sunday in January, launching the 64-day commemoration of The Season for Non-violence, which stretches from the anniversaries of the assassinations of Gandhi on January 30th and of Dr King on April 4th. Begun by a global grassroots movement with the goal of lifting up nonviolence as a powerful way to heal, transform and empower our lives and our communities, we connected our local ritual to this international effort.
As part of the Blessing we celebrate the new San Antonio Peace Laureate: this year, The Circle School. This year we will be honoring two other. Dr. Jackie Claunch will be recognized as the 2021 San Antonio Golden Rule Educator and Cary Clack will be recognized as the 2021 San Antonio Golden Rule Journalist.
