Today’s San Antonio-Express News featured Camp Humane, a week-long summer camp where for the past 11 years kids 5-15 have learned to care for animals, courtesy of the Humane Society. Seamus Nelson, director of communications, explained:

“When people learn to be compassionate to an animal, we strongly believe they can be compassionate to their peers as well,” Nelson said. “That’s what’s neat about this. We’re very excited about how the camp contributes to our mission of protecting and improving the lives of dogs and cats.

“But it goes beyond our mission; it helps these kids turn into more responsible members of society.”
