Cultural Conversations: Refugees in San Antonio

March 27, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Have you ever wondered who refugees are — why they fled their home countries and how they’re building new lives here? You’re not alone. Amid a national conversation on America’s refugee policy, join Councilman Ron Nirenberg and others for an open, honest discussion during the event Cultural Conversations: Refugees in San Antonio.

Come enjoy a sampling of foods from different cultures and take part in small group discussions on a number of issues related to the refugee community, including how the refugee program works and how entrepreurship by former immigrants and refugees is changing the face of our city. Come talk with your neighbors and learn how to separate fact from fiction.

The event features partnerships with the Institute of Texan Cultures, Catholic Charities, Center for Refugee Services, R.A.I.C.E.S, Compassionate San Antonio, the Sol Center, the Dialogue Institute, Texas Public Radio and more. Cultural Conversations was started last year by Councilman Nirenberg and State Senator José Menéndez to promote tolerance and embrace the diversity in our city.
