Imagine A Coal-Free San Antonio: Music, Films, Drinks, Poetry

November 28, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Free

First the good news: Dangerous and dirty coal plants across Texas are shutting down because they can’t compete as wind and solar take up more and more of the market. Then some bad: San Antonio’s CPS Energy just signed another coal delivery contract to fuel the Spruce coal plant at Calaveras Lake. But we are organizing to make sure our city retires its entire coal fleet, as other cities are doing.

Come out for a documentary film screening (and poetry, music, food, drinks, and discussion) about the dangers of coal power and how we can improve the health of our families and protect the planet by making San Antonio a coal-free city.

FILMS: “The Air We Breathe,” “Breath is Lyfe,” and videos of indigenous-led resistance to the Dos Republicas coal mine.

As our city embarks on an 18-month Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, committed community members are organizing to ensure this process provides a just transition to a 100-percent renewable future. Join us.
