Participatory Budgeting San Antonio
June 6, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeDetails: The event will include a presentation from the Palo Alto College PB staff, a mock PB for participants to learn how PB works, and endorsement of PB process by Mayor and City Council runoff election candidates and newly elected City Council members.
Participatory Budgeting (PB) San Antonio will allow residents of San Antonio Districts to directly decide how to spend from 1-15% of the city budget. The event will introduce the process of Participatory Budgeting to Neighborhood Associations, Community Organizations, and our new City Council and Mayor. Participatory Budgeting is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to spend part of a public budget. PB gives ordinary people real decision-making power over real money. The process was first developed in Brazil in 1989, and there are now over 1,500 participatory budgets around the world and the United States most at the municipal level.
Bring friends, neighbors, and family and learn about PB San Antonio!
