Yes, it will be hot but we are gathering because we are living in heated times!

Yes, we will be gathering to remember the communities, families, and individuals who have been impacted by recent acts of violence.

Yes, we will be gathering to reflect on how these senseless acts are informing us and on how the past informs our future. We gather to wake up to stay awake for our children and our children’s children.

Yes, we will be gathering to re-envision Our World together. We gather to begin essential conversations about creating strong communities that foster local change in a world of hurt.

All Compassionate Cities (440) and all Sister Cities (471) will be gathering at 12 noon their local times. These back-to-back gatherings will create a 24-hour global community as support to each other, in agreement that peace is the only way, and in solidarity that compassion is the only means to end the violence and suffering on this one and only precious earth. A joint proclamation will be issued that day by Sister Cities International and Charter for Compassion International. Our mayor, Ron Nirenberg will be reading that proclamation aloud on Main Plaza on behalf of San Antonio and as current chair of Sister Cities International.

If you are unable to personally attend the gathering on Main Plaza,
please consider a time of silence and reflection at 12 noon on August 12th.

“A Day of Remembrance, Reflection and Re-Envisioning Our World” is being planned by Compassionate San Antonio in partnership with the International Charter for Compassion and Sister Cities International.
