Viva Poesía: Palabras, Música, y Cultura

The City of San Antonio World Heritage Office presents “Viva Poesía: Palabras, Música, y Cultura,” the official kick-off to National Poetry Month in San Antonio, to be held at the historic Mission Marquee Plaza. Spotlighting “Eight Greats,” the theme of this 8th annual event is “La Música Que Somos,” a poetic tribute to the legends of the local music scene who helped establish the sonic and melodic soundscape of San Antonio.
Showcasing eight of the city’s most exciting poets and spoken-word artists, Viva Poesía 2022 will celebrate in verse and voice the accomplishments of individuals who have moved us to dance, sing, laugh, cry, and think with the diverse lyrical creativity that they have shared with our community and the world.

The event will include Master of Ceremony, Anthony “The Poet” Flores, interactive workshops, and make-and-take art activities for the entire family led by San Antonio artists and poets. Attendees will be able to create their visual poems and participate in painting classes, among other activities. Pop-up vendors and food trucks will also be onsite.
The event is free and open to the public. Free parking will be available onsite.
