Need is immediate and critical.
Shelters are at or near capacity. San Antonians experiencing homelessness turn to the street, cars, or encampments without access to food, hygiene supplies, or other critical needs. The Homeless Services’ Division of San Antonio’s Human Services department is requesting help with:
- Collecting info on programs that currently provide such services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Identifying organizations, congregations, community spaces to serve as distribution points (Homeless Hubs) for meals, snack bags, hygiene kits, etc.
- Assisting at the Homeless Hubs in distributing meals, creating hygiene kits, and assisting homeless service providers as deemed necessary.
- Gathering items to create hygiene kits to include, but not limited to: hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, soap, bottle of water, socks, snacks, travel size lotion, tissue packets, large freezer bags, trash bags, etc.
Deliver hygiene kits to nearest SAPD SAFFE substation. More info at: www.sanantonio.gov/SAP
