The award recognizes individuals who serve the community through acts of kindness and compassion. Baptist Temple was nominated by the city’s faith-based initiative liaison, Ann Helmke.

Baptist Temple was recognized for the innovative ways it has used its campus to serve the spiritual and physical needs of the community, including through its charter school, early learning center, thrift store and food pantry, prison ministry and various support groups.

Baptist Temple recently completed the first phase of an inclusive playground featuring accessible playscapes suitable for children 2 and younger. The playground will enable special needs children and children with typical abilities to play together.

Money is being raised to help pay for the second phase of the playground for children 5 and older.

Baptist Temple is part of a group of seven churches, two schools and six service organizations.
