School’s out for the summer!

That should be a welcome phrase to every child, instead, it can be a scary thought for San Antonio’s children and families where 1-in-5 children live in poverty.  These are the families that count on school-provided lunch and breakfast (and even weekend meals) during the year.  When summer hits, the meals come to a massive slowdown and even standstill.

No child should go hungry.

There is good news! There is a resource at our fingertips that provides easy access for feeding sites for families and their children. Etc.

No Hungry Kid, a nationwide program, simply asks families in need to text:

“FOOD” to 877877 (or “comida” for Spanish speaking families)

You will be asked for your zip code or city and will receive a message back with a location closest to where you can get free summer meals.

Please share this enormously impactful and important resource with friends, neighbors, and families in need, today.
