England is a cup of tea.
France, a wheel of ripened brie.
Greece, a short, squat olive tree.
America is a gun.
Brazil is football on the sand.
Argentina, Maradona’s hand.
Germany, an oompah band.
America is a gun.
Holland is a wooden shoe.
Hungary, a goulash stew.
Australia, a kangaroo.
America is a gun.
Japan is a thermal spring.
Scotland is a highland fling.
Oh, better to be anything
than America as a gun.
Another school shooting. 14 children and 1 teacher murdered, so far. We live in a country that claims to be pro-life, but loves guns more than children.
This makes me so sad. I can 76, and I weep for this country. I am grateful that I have no grandchildren. I have been sad since the Viet Nam conflict.
A perfect poem for the repetitive horror of America’s Massacres. My heart is broken. Brilliant Brian Bilston! Thank you.
